About Us

We're Sisu Strength Academy and we've been a gym here in Waukee, IA, since 2017. We are defined by the strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting in the face of adversity. We are a training facility that’s focused on guiding you through a journey to not only meet your fitness goals, but to reach milestones you thought weren’t possible in life. I became a member of Sisu early 2023 from the recommendation of Jake Pawol, owner of Fortitude & Freedom. Nick, Jeff and new coach Lexi care about each person they have an opportunity to work with. My favorite part is they really take the time to get to know you and remember the small things about you and they are hilarious! They also take feedback well and it shows when they talk about their programming. The coaches are not shy to correct you on your form and educate you. The education and support will also come from the older members when the coaches are helping a new member. I will be leaving DSM in a few weeks and wish I could take this community and gym with me so do yourself a favor and join Sisu because you will be in great hands!!

Are you in need of a change & new challenge? I strongly recommend trying SISU! I’d had my eye on this gym for a while, and I finally took the leap about a month ago. I can’t say enough good things about my experience so far! First off - if you’re anything like me (aka - a little socially awkward), it can be very intimidating to walk into a new gym all alone. But the members at SISU are truly amazing. I had so many people ask my name & introduce themselves during that first week, and everyone has been so welcoming & encouraging. It’s truly unlike anything else I’ve experienced. The trainers hold the entire team accountable, the workouts are challenging, and you’ll find yourself pushing past your limits. A lot of the weightlifting exercises are new to me, but every time I’m feeling a little lost, Nick or Jeff are quickly by my side helping me with form/re-explaining the exercise. It’s like they have a 6th sense & always know who is struggling/needs some help. If they are busy, you can almost always count on another member to jump in to help. I feel re-energized & excited about going to the gym! If you’re in a funk or just need to get started, I strongly recommend you give SISU a try!
